N Dip Logistics

Logistics ensures the effective and efficient planning, organising, implementation and control of the activities required to supply the needs and services to users within the supply chain at an optimum price and on time. In order to function efficiently all companies require goods and/or services. At most businesses, you will therefore find a separate section which is responsible for obtaining the right goods in the right amounts at the right time and at a reasonable price, from the most suitable supplier with delivery at the right spot. An average of more than fifty percent of the income of manufacturing companies is spent on the purchase of requirements, therefore effective Logistics Management is an effective part of the day to day running of an organisation.

Course Objectives

The aim of the National Diploma Logistics is to provide the student with the broad range of expertise necessary to assume responsibility for the effective and efficient planning, organizing, implementation and control of the purchasing activities which are necessary to supply needed goods and services of the right quality and at optimum cost from competent suppliers in time. The NMMU offers two programmes in Logistics namely a National Diploma and a B Tech Degree. Students can continue their studies at the Masters and Doctoral level.

Duration of Course

The diploma is offered over a period of three years full-time or four years part-time.
